Sticky has surgery By Kate Hunt
Poor Sticky hadn’t been feeling too well for some time. Her shoulder strap had come loose and she was worried that it might come undone when she was underwater with a student. Luckily Ks mum had just had a shiny industrial sewing machine delivered and J said that Sticky must be booked in for surgery as soon as possible to repair her broken strap. Sticky wasn’t too happy about this at all, she had heard that this meant a big, scary, sharp needle and she sat on her hanger in the new accommodation and wouldn’t speak to any of the other bcds. Tango tried his hardest to cheer her up and Mank joked that no sewing machine could patch him up he was too old and manky!
Finally the day came and Sticky was packed into the car for K to take for her surgery. A couple of weeks later Sticky met up with Shorti and Sandy when they came back from their MOTs. Sticky said she had hardly felt it at all, Ks mum was very gentle and Sticky was happily showing off her stitches to Shorti and Sandy and telling them all about it.
Sticky hadn’t seen Shorti or Sandy for a few weeks and they chattered all the way home back to Wales on the back seat of the car. K got so fed up with their yapping she threatened to stuff tissue paper down their inflator hoses to keep them quiet! Sandy wanted to tell Sticky all about a wing they had met when they were having their MOT – he was a very posh double bladder wing who had done lots of technical dives and told them lots of funny stories which Sandy wanted to tell Tekki and Macho when she got home. Sandy had decided that he could be her wing man anytime!
Finally they arrived home and J hung them up on their rail. Sticky told Chub and Scruff all about her surgery and poor old Scruff promptly went very faded and nearly fell of the rail! Luckily Chub managed to grab his tank strap and pulled him back onto his hanger. The semi drys decided a welcome home party was in order and a welcome party for the new regs that J had recently bought.
